How to use your Student leap card for travel

Luas Discounts - Student Discounts

LUAS

You can use your Student Leap Card on all Luas services in Dublin. Student fares are up to 30% cheaper than adult fares. You can use your SLC as student ID to allow you to purchase 7 or 30 day tickets. Or you can top-up your card with travel credit and use it PAYG.

If you use your card PAYG, you can avail of the Leap Card capping function, where you don’t pay more than €5 a day or €20 a week when using just the Luas (caps increase to €7.50 a day and €30 a week if you use the Luas and Dublin Bus/DART/Commuter Rail).

When using your card on the Luas you must touch-on when starting your journey and touch-off at the end of your journey, using the validators (located at the Luas platforms) to ensure that you are charged the correct amount. Click here for more information on using your card on the Luas.
