How we use cookies:

Fraudulent Use

In the event of fraudulent use of your Student Leap Card (SLC) or other breach in its terms and conditions of use, including a breach of the Leap Card Terms and Conditions, SLC and/or the National Transport Authority (NTA) reserves the right to release your details to the appropriate carrier or authority.

You must present your Student Leap Card at time of purchasing a Student Travel ticket

You must present your Student Leap Card at time of purchasing a Student Travel ticket in order to be entitled to discounted travel.  All tickets are issued subject to the bye laws applicable to Dublin Bus, LUAS, Iarnród Éireann and other carriers.

Inspection

You must have your Student Leap Card available for inspection when travelling on a discounted student ticket.

Confiscation

Iarnród Éireann, LUAS, Dublin Bus and other carriers may confiscate the card in the case of misuse. In the case of confiscation, the cardholders name may be placed on a stoplist and a new card may not be issued for six months following confiscation and you will not receive a refund of any remaining Travel Credit. If the card is lost or stolen a new application must be made along with full payment.  Student Leap Card operates a strict policy whereby no refunds will be made in respect of any overpayments for the Student Leap Card.

Who's Eligible?

All full time students in 2nd and 3rd level education are entitled to apply for a Student Leap Card. Students must have a minimum of 16 hours of lectures/class time per week, and be enrolled for a minimum of 6 months duration in any one 12 month period. 


Full-time foreign students who meet the above criteria are also entitled to apply for the SLC whilst in Ireland. Students enrolled as trainee Accountants (ACCA, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland), CPA trainees, trainee Solicitors registered with the Law Society, full time SOLAS trainees/students and full time PLC students are also considered eligible.  


Students of online courses are not eligible to apply for the SLC, unless they meet the criteria set out here. Students may be required to produce further evidence of eligibility, upon request by Student Leap Card or an agent of Student Leap Card (i.e. letter from college/institution).

NOTE: If you are under 19yrs old you are also eligible for a Child Leap card.  Child Leap enables child fares on public transport in Ireland. There are no retail discount benefits to the Child Leap card. To ensure you are getting the right card for you, see full details HERE

Postal applications

·         The application form must bear the Authorised Stamp and be signed by an Authorised Official of your University, College or School.

·         Enclose 2 passport sized photographs of yourself. You must print your name on the reverse of each photograph. One photograph must be glued to the application form at PHOTO A. The other photograph must be glued to the application form at PHOTO B. PHOTO B must be over stamped with your official college/school stamp by an official college/school representative. The Student Leap Card is strictly non-transferable.

·         You must enclose payment of €7.00 made payable by bank draft, postal order, cheque or card. Please ensure your payment details are completed in full.

·          Please ensure you have written your name and address on the back of your cheque/postal order.

 

Electronic Information:

We require the electronic information to send you updates on new or improved discounts and we run competitions regularly we will not send you spam.

Incorrectly completed forms

If your application form is incorrectly completed it will be rejected and returned to you. An administration fee of €5 will be levied to cover additional costs incurred to process incorrect and incomplete forms.

Not liable

Dublin Bus, Iarnrod Eireann, LUAS or Student Leap Card will not be liable for any Application Form, Rejection Letter or Student Leap Card lost, delayed or damaged in the post or for the removal of or change to any third party or partner offers to card holders.

No refunds

No refunds will be made in respect of tickets purchased prior to receiving the Student Leap Card.  Refund of Travel Credit on Student Leap Cards is subject to the Leap Card terms and conditions set out at www.leapcard.ie.  Student Leap Card operates a strict policy whereby no refunds will be made in respect of any overpayments for the Student Leap Card.

Student Leap Card (SLC) is a personalised Leap Card

The Student Leap Card (SLC) is a personalised Leap Card. By obtaining a Student Leap Card you agree to and acknowledge that SLC will pass the personal data provided to the National Transport Authority (NTA).

How to use your Student Leap Card

Student Leap Card users have two means of using the card to pay for public transport:

You can use your Student Leap Card as a Leap Card for travel on Dublin Bus, Luas, DART and Commuter Rail in the Short Hop Zone. To do this you need to load your Student Leap Card with Travel Credit at any Payzone station. The Terms and Conditions and fares applying to use of the Student Travelcard as a Leap Card are set out at www.leapcard.ie;

AND/OR

You can use your Student Leap Card as an ID to buy tickets at discounted student fares. You must present your Student Leap Card at the time of purchase in order to avail of the discounted fares. All tickets are issued subject to the Bye-Laws applicable to Dublin Bus, LUAS and Iarnród Éireann and any other carrier. When using your Student Leap Card as an ID in conjunction with a student ticket you do not need to “Touch-On” your Student Leap Card. If you “Touch-On” you will be charged. You must have your Student Leap Card available for inspection when travelling on a discounted student ticket. Dublin Bus 5/30 Day Student Rambler tickets are no longer available in paper form. You must now load them onto your Student Leap Card.
