Your DART/Commuter Rail spend will be capped at a special student rate €6.90 per day or €27.00 per week (Mon to Sun). Once you hit the cap you can continue to travel on DART/Commuter Rail for free. Just Touch On and Off as usual.

You can use your card as a student ID to allow you buy 7 day or 30 day short-hop-zone tickets in Dublin. A 7 or 30 day costs €27.50 or €93.50 respectively.

Where to Top Up with Travel Credit or Tickets?
Student Leap Cards can be topped up with Travel Credit or Tickets at over 500 shops in Dublin, Cork, and Galway, as well as at all Luas stops and at all DART/Commuter Rail stations in Dublin.
When using a Leap Card to PAYG or when using a ticket loaded onto the Leap Card
Bus – Touch On at the start of your journey only
Luas/Train – Touch On AND Touch Off
Using Student Leap Card as a Student ID
Most bus operators in Ireland accept the Student Leap Card as a student ID to allow students buy discounted tickets. Dublin Bus, Luas, DART and Commuter Rail in Dublin accept Student Leap Card as the ONLY valid means of verifying you are entitled to the student fare.
